I started my career in Estate Agency in 1983, working for both large corporates and small independent companies, before joining Romans in 1991. It was only a short time after that I became a Shareholder Director.
I was asked by Dale Norton, founder of Romans, to move from Sales to Lettings to grow this side of the business. In my role as Managing Director, I developed a team of people to grow the business from one location with a handful of properties to one of the largest Lettings Businesses in the UK. I was responsible for managing thousands of properties for clients throughout the globe and developing the Company into a multi-million pound business with various income streams.
In addition, I played a key role in developing the branch network further by acquiring over 30 Lettings and Sales Businesses as part of the Company’s Growth Plan and eventual sales to Bowmark Private Equity.
What I do now
I look to help independent Estate Agents to develop their Lettings Business further and deal with new business environment following various legislative changes. After an initial comprehensive check/MOT from front of office, administration, property management, terms of business, renewals and accounts. The next step would be to prescribe some key initiatives and strategies, including developing other ancillary income streams, with a focus on growing the portfolio with more managed and rent collected properties.
My aim is to work collaboratively with the management team and staff, improving customer service and transforming the business to add shareholder value by working with the Proprietor on reducing costs with the supply chain to the business, generating more income and also acquiring other Letting businesses to gain market share and increase profitability as part of an exit strategy.
